This is the first song I co-wrote with my producer, Moses Rubin. We had the idea of a character who kills her lover and takes her power back in the process. As we recorded the rest of the project, this song started sounding like the opening to the story that the album tells, introducing the physical plot with the rest of the songs being a process of love, anger, and grief thereafter.

Consider the love you have with someone that you know you'll leave. Maybe you don't have to but you would rather go before whatever you share goes sour. Appreciating the gifts someone has given you, I write "Stay Like This" from a place of knowingly walking away from something magical. I hope it offers you the question of if that is always the answer in our lives.

This song came at a time when everything in my life had changed and I had no idea where I was going to go. I was running, not only from the circumstances but also from what gifts were arising because of them. Our path is more about our perspective than it is about what's in front of us. This song was a hope that the goodness we have felt will somehow come back to us and stay by our side.
